New research shows some people are genetically much more prone to sugar and food addiction than others. Here is a four week plan to help break sugar addictions. Week 1– Cutting down on the portion of sugar you eat: For the first week, plan to still eat whatever goodies you want, but restrict to a single serving portion amount. Making sure have solid meals to be full throughout the day and prevent from wanting to snack of sugary treats. Week 2 – Stop eating sweet treats: During the second week, plan to start cutting out obvious sugar culprits such as cookies, pop, candy etc. from your diet then plan to eat fruit and something that be actually healthy for you. Like the first week, keeping 3-4 solid meals a day is important. Week 3 – Cutting down on hidden sugars: The next step is to cut out the hidden sugars. Sugar is hiding in so many foods such as cereals, pastas, breads, and even many foods that we believe to be healthy, such as juices, dried fruit and fruit yogurt. Week 4 – Eating less sugar in the long term: In this week plan to continue to eat with minimal sugar in your diet, but also try to find the right balance to maintain a healthy lifestyle. After this period, you should actually feel really great about eating less sugar in your regular diet. It never hurts to eat healthier or take better care of your body.
